International Symposium on "Recent advance in analytical techniques for steelmaking industry" (23/07/2012)

The Division of Process Evaluation and Material Characterization

International Symposium on"Recent advance in analytical techniques for steelmaking industry"
RATEC2012
28 - 30 November, 2012

(2nd Ver. Feb.23)

In steel industry, various analytical techniques are always applied to create new steel products and to develop the manufacturing process. In recent years, analysis and evaluation are becoming increasingly important in the areas, such as steel material circulation, waste gas, byproducts, energy saving, and recycling, in addition to contribute directly to the steelmaking process. Since the advances in steelmaking processes can reduce the amount of impurities in steels significantly, the analytical techniques with quick response and high accuracy as well as high sensitivity are strongly required for the production of clean steel. Furthermore, the progress in control of inclusions, precipitates, and surfaces and interfaces of steel grains, which dominate the mechanical properties of steel products, demands the development of new analytical methods to contribute to their characterization. In this symposium, along with an overview of recent advances in such researches, future challenges will be discussed.
